What a burning question! I’m sure not many people would think of it right away while researching their indigestion symptoms, but imagine their surprise when they do eventually come across it. Is it true? Can I die from indigestion? Let’s take a look at some facts.
Indigestion and heartburn must be seen, firstly, as a reaction that your body has to some stimulant. This is usually a reaction to some food, drink, candy, or possibly even the way that a person ate, the mood they were in, or stress in their lives. Once you understand the root causes for indigestion, you can begin to take a look at the things that cause it for you personally, and learn how to avoid the problem. You can also find home remedies for indigestion that could help you to ease the pain, but you don’t want to overlook or ignore the symptoms, because they can be a legitimate way for your body to be telling you that something is wrong.
Ulcers are a problem that are masked by antacids, and can cause fatalities in people who never knew that they had the ulcers to begin with. Another problem that indigestion can point to is stress. A person with a lot of stress can have many negative side effects of the stress, and the stomach is one prominent area that these signs can show up. If you are really concerned that what you are experiencing may be very serious, you should always see your doctor and discuss your concerns with them.
One problem that has become more commonly known, and stems from the effects of indigestion, is esophageal cancer. The erosion of the esophagus from stomach acid is a problem that can lead to cancer. This is why you should never let your heartburn or indigestion continue untreated. At least find some form of home remedy for indigestion that works for you. You should always try to prevent indigestion so that you can remain healthy and not suffer any of the side effects that it can cause.
So, can I die from indigestion? It sure is possible. Just remember to watch for the warning signs of your body, and get treatment and professional medical help if necessary.

My father nearly died from indigestion…well more like it was a precursor to something worse…triple by-pass surgery. I am always looking out for it now.
Wow, Spencer! It’s definitely something to watch out for, as it can be a sign to something worse, just like in your father’s case. Hope he’s doing well!
My brother really suffers from indigestion, and I have to admit I have sometimes been a little insensitive about it.
I have some stuff I need to share with him, so thanks!
Hi Lauren, Thanks for visiting! It’s good to know there is information available to those of us who suffer from this condition. It’s my goal to pull it all together here at one place to help people as much as I possibly can.
A very informative article, thank you. I had indigestion problems many years ago but didn’t know that it can have serious consequences. In my case it was stress-related. I found that my stomach is very sensitive to stress. Now whenever I start having stomach problems I know it is time to relax and take it easy.

Hi Lianna, Stress is definitely a big factor in many people who suffer from indigestion. Thanks for visiting the site!
Yep, stress can really wreck havoc on your health. Used to get a lot of stomach related problems whenever I was stressed out, but fortunately meditation and relaxation helped me in releasing the stresses out. Since then my stomach problems seem to disappear. Now, I use meditation and relaxation to manage my stress level.
That’s a very good tip to help control stress. Meditation, relaxation, even hypnosis can help. Thanks for the comment!
I was blessed with a cast iron stomach, however I spent some time in the hospital next to a guy who had messed up his esophagus. It was terrible! I will be recommending this site to some of my friends who should own stock in Tums.
It’s scary how fast this can seem to come up on you. One day your feeling fine, the next you have horrible esophagus problems. This is why it’s important to control it and stop the problem before it gets much worse.
I used to have this indigestion problem in the past and don’t know how to deal with it. Now, it is not so bad. At least I know how to deal with it with information from this site…
It can really be a problem when it stops you from sleeping, or disrupts your work or other activities. Thanks for stopping by!
